ID (2025)

ID is an interactive artwork that examines how identity is manufactured, mediated, and standardized across both analog and algorithmic systems. Beginning with self-portraits taken in a defunct mall photo booth, the images were processed through StudioShot to generate a “professional” headshot and then further altered with FaceApp to produce alternate late-capitalist personas. These manipulated portraits were reimagined as Division Department identification badges and embedded into an interactive slider, inviting viewers to toggle between versions of the same subject.

Through this layered process—spanning photography, AI image generation, and web-based interaction—ID interrogates the bureaucratic aesthetics and algorithmic biases that shape how visibility and legitimacy are constructed, particularly within the images that orbit power.
